Announcements

·         Receipts for contributions made during 2009 were mailed recently. If your receipt has not arrived, please contact one of the treasurers on any day other than Sabbath. 

·         The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is participating in relief efforts following the recent earthquake in Haiti. If you wish to make a financial contribution to ADRA's Emergency Response Fund, you are encouraged to contact them at (800) 424-2372, or give online at www.adra.org  On the other hand, you can place your cash or check in a tithe envelope and mark it "ADRA—Haiti." Be certain that your name and address is on the tithe envelope if you would like a tax deductible receipt at year's end since the money will be handled by ADRA. We urge you to continue in prayer for the people of Haiti as they gallantly face this enormous tragedy.

We do know that two of our largest churches near the presidential palace were destroyed—five congregations met in these churches.  One of those churches had a school and there are serious concerns for the children who were attending school at that time.  Contact has not yet been made to the union president, but the union office is not damaged seriously. There are two missionaries in Haiti who are alright but shaken.  Adventist institutions in Haiti include two high schools, one university and one hospital. 

·         Please sign up to donate Sabbath flowers to the church on the flower calendar in the foyer, especially for the Sabbaths coming up. 

ILLINOIS CONFERENCE EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS 

·         On Sabbath, January 16, 2010 Kurt Johnson of the Voice of Prophecy will be in the Chicagoland area to give training on the Discover Bible School.  The training will take place at 2:30 pm at the Downers Grove Church at 5525 Lee Ave., Downer Grove, IL 60515.  Kurt will have a dynamic training that will cover “how to” set up and operate a Discover Bible School as well as “how to” jump start an existing Discover Bible School.  Please plan now to attend this pertinent training.  

·         On Sabbath, January 30, 2010 we will have another training on the Unsealing Daniel’s Mysteries program.  Our turn out on January 7 was tremendous despite the snow.  However, some missed the training because of the weather and scores of others have asked for the training.  This seminar can be conducted as a small group or in a public setting.  Any person who attends the training and commits to lead a small group or conduct a public meeting will receive a free leaders manual, cd/dvd graphics, and a set of lessons.  The location will be announced next Sabbath or you can contact Lorena Contreraz to register and receive location information at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it  or call 630-856-2854.
